Humanitarian Aid<\/b><\/h5>\n

To support the refugee communities in Lunglei, Aizawl, and Champhai districts of Mizoram State, India, the Institute of Chin Affairs donated a substantial amount of food and other essential items, including more than 200 bags of rice, cooking oil, salt, and beans, in April 2024. Moreover, the organization’s donation included 6 1000-liter water tanks and tents to aid in the relief efforts. In a show of solidarity, the Institute of Chin Affairs has donated 500,000 rupees worth of humanitarian aid to those in need. During a visit to Mizoram in April 2024, the Deputy Executive Director of the Institute of Chin Affairs met with key stakeholders, including the Mizo Students Union, government officials to discuss potential collaboration and support initiatives for Myanmar refugees.<\/span><\/p>\n

Health Care<\/b><\/h5>\n

Lailun Medical Center is also providing health care services as part of the Institute of Chin Affairs. Lailun Medical Center has opened 2 locations in Chin State and one in Zokhawthar, Mizoram, providing free medical treatment to nearby refugee camps and people. In 2022, more than 2422 patients, in 2023, over 4068 patients and over 2607 patients in 2024, a total of over 9000 patients have been treated.<\/span><\/p>\n

Educational service<\/b><\/h5>\n

In an effort to promote education, the Institute of Chin Affairs is providing educational support to children in Falam Township, as well as an honorarium for school teachers and school uniforms, takebook and teaching aids for refugee children in Zokhawthar and Uilui camps. The deputy executive director of the Institute of Chin Affairs, leading a delegation, held a meeting with officials from the education department and the Mizoram government in April 2024 to discuss the future education of Myanmar refugees.<\/span><\/p>\n

As of April 2024, the Institute of Chin Affairs has contributed over USD 10,000 in humanitarian aid to support Myanmar refugees, a gesture that is crucial but insufficient considering their immense needs where nearly 60000 refugees.
